Each Wednesday at Barrie North Collegiate Institute, the school's mental health and well-being committee is working to address food access for students. The Soul Soup program is intended to ensure all students have access to hot, nutritious lunches during the winter months, when food  access can be a challenge due to the higher cost of fruits and vegetables.

Ms. Gibbons with the help of Ms. Shillington, Mrs. Wilkey, a few student volunteers and students in food and nutrition classes prepare and serve the soup each week.
Wednesday's during lunch, all students are invited to enjoy a cup of soup at no charge, and with no questions asked.

Community members, organizations or businesses who are interested in supporting the program through donations are invited to contact Ms. Gibbons at sgibbons@scdsb.on.ca
