Admission Requirements and Applying to College
Visit the Guidance Department "College Bound" student website to learn more about colleges in Ontario and how to apply for them. Students will need to ensure they are logged in with their SCDSB Google account to access the site. Students should also pick up a copy of the Beyond North College edition in the Guidance Office. This important handout provides important information for graduating students planning to attend college.
Students should also visit the Ontario Colleges website to explore programs and apply to them. The application server opens in October. This is the main site supported by all Colleges in Ontario. Information is current and organized. Students enter the program and
create their own account and Personal Identification Number (PIN) to research
and apply. You can search by Programs or Colleges and compare information
on the screen. Admission requirements for each program are stated.
Students can organize their 5 program choices in order of preference and apply
As students are
making post-secondary decisions, they have the opportunity to attend speaker
sessions where a representative from the institution comes to North to meet and
discuss program information and answer questions. This is a very informative
and useful tool in the research process.
A schedule of
speakers is made available to students in early September, with sessions taking
place right through to the end of November. All sessions take place during the lunch break in the Career Room (Room 110).
For a full view
of all scheduled speaking dates click here or check the Guidance grad board regularly.
